“KOGEI Art Fair Kanazawa 2025,” Japan’s only art fair dedicated to crafts, will take place from November 28 to 30, 2025, at Hyatt Centric Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture. Now in its ninth edition, the fair will welcome 40 Japan-based galleries specializing in contemporary art and crafts, along with exhibitors from Korea and Taiwan. In total, 42 galleries and approximately 200 artists will participate.
As a special program, the “MUFG Lounge” will be presented by Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, a supporter of the fair since 2023 and an advocate for the preservation of craft culture. In this lounge, visitors can enjoy food and drinks served using craft items, surrounded by artworks by next-generation artists.
In addition, a Special Talk titled “21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa’s Crafts Initiatives and Future Prospects,” featuring Meruro Washida (Director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa; Associate Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School), will be held on the 28th. There will also be multiple Artist Talks on the 28th and 30th, where one artist from each of 19 exhibiting galleries will introduce their works and share the stories behind their creations.
Over the three days, a diverse range of galleries and artists will gather in Kanazawa, a city where art and craft are woven into everyday life. The fair offers an exciting opportunity to encounter new works and gain insight into the current landscape of contemporary crafts.
