Tsuzure Bangle
YURAI is a craft jewelry brand created by designer Haruka Okabe. The brand name YURAI means “origin.” Drawing on Japanese tradition, craftsmanship, and regional materials, the brand expresses an aesthetic sensibility that has been cultivated through the long history of craftmaking.
This time, as the brand’s second series, a collection of Nishijin-ori jewelry produced in collaboration with Kiyohara Orimono in Shiga Prefecture is introduced. Inspired by Lake Biwa, the landscape of the production area, the collection features object-like bangles that express the evolving colors of the lake’s surface, sky, and the reflections on the water over time. These qualities are expressed through delicate tsuzure-ori weaving, alongside silver and gold jewelry featuring patterns that evoke the sparkle and gentle ripples of the water’s surface.
Kiyohara Orimono has inherited the techniques of tsuzure-ori, one of the oldest Nishijin-ori weaving methods with a long history. In addition to producing artistic textiles such as stage curtains and offerings for shrines, they continue to create meticulously handcrafted works, including fukusa and obi that adorn special occasions. Like textiles that have long been woven with wishes and prayers, each piece of jewelry handcrafted by artisans is intended to accompany its wearer like a talisman.
In addition to sales through the official online store, exhibitions and sales events are planned in Japan and overseas in 2026. Updates will be posted regularly on the website.
