“ARCELF,” Debuts as a Contemporary Jewelry Brand Reinterpreting Japanese Craftsmanship

ARCELF is a contemporary jewelry brand that reinterprets “fragments of Japanese beauty” —from traditional craftsmanship, Japanese landscapes to materials and memories passed down through generations. On September 5, 2026, the brand unveiled its debut collection, “TSUZURE – Loose End,” at “Bijorhca Paris,” an international jewelry exhibition held in Paris, France.

ARCELF translates the materials, techniques, culture heritage, and aesthetic sensibilities passed down through generations across Japan’s regions into contemporary jewelry. Founder Yukari Fujii personally visits production sites and workshops, engaging closely with artisans through ongoing dialogue. Rather than simply drawing inspiration from traditional crafts, the brand actively collaborates with artisans and workshops, ensuring that the value created by each piece flows back to the people and places where it originates. Through this approach, ARCELF aims to establish a sustainable cycle in which each piece of jewelry chosen generates new opportunities for artisans, supporting the preservation and continuation of their crafts in future generations.

The debut collection was created in collaboration with Soushi Tsuzure-en, a workshop specializing in “Nishijin Tsumekaki Hon-tsuzure-ori,” a traditional weaving technique with a long history in Kyoto’s Nishijin district. This distinctive technique involves artisans using their own fingernails, carefully shaped into serrated edges, as tools to pull and arrange threads during the weaving process. ARCELF draws inspiration from fragments of beauty discovered within the workshop — from conversations with an artisan who has dedicated over 70 years to Tsuzure-ori weaving and the countless threads lining the workshop walls, to the artisans’ fingernails used as essential weaving tools and the shimmering light reflected by the woven fabric. These elements have been thoughtfully reinterpreted into contemporary jewelry. Comprising 15 designs, including rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, the collection beautifully captures the delicate artistry and intricate expressions of this traditional weaving technique.

ARCELF, guided by its vision of “Transforming Japanese crafts from ‘tradition to be preserved’ into objects of desire for people living today.” Each piece of jewelry is handcrafted by Japanese artisans and made to order. With exhibitions planned in Tokyo, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the debut collection and experience the beauty and craftmanship of each piece firsthand through seeing, touching, and trying on the jewelry.
