Nottuo, a global design studio based in Nishiawakura, Okayama Prefecture, has launched its new brand “Nosou™.” The brand made its debut at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen in June 2026, unveiling its first collection of bamboo lighting.

Nosou™ is a contemporary lighting brand that seamlessly merges Japanese design aesthetics, sustainable natural materials, and master craftsmanship through a modern design perspective. Rooted in the philosophy of “Time Makes Beauty,” the brand celebrates the evolving character and beauty that emerges as natural materials gracefully age, allowing each piece to gain greater depth over time.

The debuted model “Nosou 0º,” was developed through a collaboration between Nottuo and Tomisawa, a lighting manufacturer based in Chizu, Tottori Prefecture. The exterior is crafted from solid bamboo sourced in Kyoto and hand-finished by skilled artisans. As it ages alongside its owner, the material develops a distinctive character and a unique personality found nowhere else in the world. As the brand’s flagship model, it truly embodies the philosophy of “Time Makes Beauty.” Its signature feature is an intuitive slide-switch system that adjusts the brightness by moving the fixture horizontally instead of using a conventional mechanical switch. Designed for long-term use and has the potential to become a future craft, “Nosou 0º” also incorporates energy-efficient LED lighting, USB-C charging to reduce the environmental impact of lithium-ion batteries, and a modular construction that allows for easy maintenance and repair.

Pre-orders for “Nosou 0º” are now available through the brand’s official website. Looking beyond bamboo, Nosou™ plans to expand its collection using natural materials and traditional Japanese crafts, including washi paper, sakan (traditional plastering), and natural stone. Blending nature with master craftsmanship, Nosou is a promising new brand creating timeless designs that are made to be appreciated for generations.
