Analogue Life
A fire burning fiercely in a wood-fired kiln. Imagine the sensation of grasping such a crackling, energetic dynamism. The artist’s hands, forming the Shigaraki clay, have boldly drawn out its individuality to reveal a powerful presence. The sparkle of the hairline crack patterns (kan-nyu, or “crackle”) and natural ash glaze (shizen–yu), shining within its strength, is also beautiful.
