Open Factory Event “RENEW/2026” in Echizen Sabae Announced Event Information

The open factory event, “RENEW/2026” will be held over three days, from October 9 to 11, 2026 across Sabae-city, Echizen-city and Echizen-cho in Fukui Prefecture. Event information, including the full list of participating companies, programs and workshops has been released on the official website.

This year, 121 companies from the Echizen Sabae region are participating. Around 90 companies will open their studios and facilities to the public, offering visitors to see the actual manufacturing site. Additionally, a diverse program is planned, featuring approximately 80 types of workshops — ranging from authentic craftsmanship experience led by artisans to easy-to-join activities — as well as official tours of the production areas and talk events. This year, an information center has been added in Echizen-cho, and shuttle bus services from major stations have been expanded, making the area more accessible for visitors.

Marking its 12th edition, RENEW has steadily expanded in scale, growing into an event that attracted a total of 55,000 visitors over three days in 2025. In recent years, the event has spurred the opening of more than 40 factory shops in the region and led to an increase in the number of young people moving to and finding work in the Echizen Sabae area. In conjunction with the RENEW, activities such as networking sessions with companies recruiting in the region and events featuring talks by people who have relocated to the area are also being planned, demonstrating that the RENEW has expanded beyond a typical open factory event. It promises to be a great opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Echizen Sabae region.
