“The 20th Paramita Ceramic Art Grand Prize Exhibition” Will Be Held

“The 20th Paramita Ceramic Art Grand Prize Exhibition” will be held at the Paramita Museum in Mie Prefecture from June 4 to July 26, 2026.

Established in 2006, the Paramita Ceramic Art Grand Prize Exhibition aims to introduce the artists who represent the spirit of the times while preserving their works for future generations. Participating artists are selected through recommendations by approximately 300 experts nationwide, including museums, art galleries, and art critics. Works by the six shortlisted nominees will be exhibited at the venue, with the Grand Prize winner determined by visitor’s votes during the exhibition period.

Voting will take place over a 36-days period, from June 4, the opening day of the exhibition, through July 9. The Grand Prize announcement and award ceremony will be held on July 19, with the winner receiving a prize of 1 million yen. In addition, visitors who vote for the Grand Prize-winning artist will receive a commemorative gift from the Paramita Museum.

To commemorate the 20th edition of the prize, a special concurrent exhibition titled “The 20 Years History of the Paramita Ceramic Art Grand Prize Exhibition,” will also be presented. The exhibition will feature panels introducing works by the 199 artists who have participated over the years, alongside works by past Grand Prize winners. This special presentation offers a valuable opportunity to experience a broad range of works by leading figures in the field of contemporary ceramic art.
