A metalwork artist based in Hyogo Prefecture. After studying metal engraving in Tokyo, Takeo set up his own studio, where he mainly produces brass cutlery using carving and forging techniques inspired by his experiences traveling around various production regions and his encounters with folk art around Japan. He continues to make beautiful tools for daily life that embody the beauty of use.
The traces of handwork that remain on each piece of cutlery reveal the artist’s sincere approach to his craft. It is a luxury to have such a beautiful piece to use in one’s daily life: the gentle touch of brass, its color deepening with time, emits a quiet light and reminds us of the accumulating preciousness of our day to day life.
