Tsubaki for celebration


“Tamatsubaki” is a complimentary name of tsubaki which is Japanese traditional flower. The beautiful red color of the tsubaki flower has been loved by the Japanese for a long time. In pottery making, a red glaze is difficult to achieve. Miyama is particular about the color, so they developed new original red glaze by using a deformation technique during firing. As a result, they succeeded in expressing the beautiful red of the tsubaki flower. Traditionally in Japan, red and white colors are often used in auspicious occasions such as festivals and weddings. Miyama’s tamatsubaki beautifully adorned on a table brightens up the celebration.

Achieving an alternate color through the firing process by manipulating the glaze composition and characteristics of the fire.
